THE SYSTEM OF EVALUATION

KINDERGARTEN:

      Kindergarten will not have any formal kind of tests. Therefore no dates will be announced through School diary. They will be assessed based upon overall performance in the class. 

CLASSES 1 – 10

  1. Board exam: 80% of marks ( for grades 9 & 10 )
  2. School Examination ( For grades 1- 8 )
  3. Periodic Assessment: 20 marks

 Board theory exam salient features (80 marks):

  1. Entire syllabus will be included in the exam.
  2. Marks and grades will be awarded for individual subjects.
  3. 8 - Point grading for grades 1 – 10.
  4. 3 Point Grading Scale for Co Scholastic Areas for classes 1 – 8 and 5 Point Grading Scale  for classes 9 & 10

Periodic Assessment salient features (20 marks):

Will be completed through three different modes

       (i) Periodic Tests                          : 10 marks
      (ii) Notebook submission              : 5 marks
      (iii) Subject enrichment activity    : 5 marks

 Half Yearly Exam in October

         Written Exam for 80 marks with entire syllabus of 1st term

  Yearly Exam in March

         Written Exam for 80 marks with syllabus coverage as below:

          Classes I to V    : 10% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

          Class VI             : 10% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

          Class VII           : 20% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

          Class VIII         : 30% of 1st term covering significant topics + entire syllabus of 2nd term

     Subject Enrichment Activities ( 5 marks)

       These are subject-specific activities aimed at enhancing the understanding and skills of the students.  

       These activities are to be carried out throughout the term, however, they should be evaluated at the  

       Term-end.

  1. Co – Scholastic Activities:

For the holistic development of the student, co-curricular activities in the following areas be carried out in CBSE affiliated schools by the teachers and will be graded term-wise on a three point grading scale 

              ( A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair ) for classes 1 – 8  and five point grading scale for classes 9 & 10 (A - E).

The aspect of regularity, sincere participation, output and teamwork be the generic criteria for grading in the following co-scholastic activities:

(a) Work Education - Work Education refers to skill-based activities resulting in goods or services useful to the community

(b) Art Education (Visual & Performing Art)

(c) Health and Physical Education (Sports/Martial Arts/Yoga/NCC etc.)

  1. Discipline ( Attendance, Sincerity, Behavior, Values):

The students will also be assessed for the discipline which will be based on the factors like attendance, sincerity, behaviour, values, tidiness, respectfulness for rules and regulations, attitude towards society, nation and others. Grading on Discipline will be done term-wise on a three point grading scale             

 ( A=Outstanding, B=Very Good and C=Fair ) for classes 1 – 8  and five point grading scale for classes 9 & 10 ( A - E).

 Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills in English & Hindi  (ASL)

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) envisages that all language skills need to be integrated into the English language curriculum at schools. Speaking and Listening should be nurtured in children to equip them with better communication skills. It has been proposed to introduce formal testing of Speaking and Listening Skills in the Summative Assessments in English and Hindi at Secondary and English in Senior Secondary levels. (Classes IX, X & XI) in CBSE. 

CLASSES  XI &XII 

Formal tests and examinations are conducted in three terms Viz. - the First Term in June, The Second Term in November and the Third Term in the month of March.

WEIGHTAGE FOR ASSESMENTS (Class XI)

 Cyclic Tests - 10%

I Term - 10%

II Term - 20%

Pre Board - 20%

Final - 40%

 CYCLIC TESTS & PRE BOARD EXAM

 The Cyclic Test has been scheduled in such a way that in a month all subjects get one Cyclic Test on the basis of the portion taught in the month. We conduct pre-board exams for Classes XI & XII which helps the students to raise the standards of their performance in the board examination.
